Whirlpool Dryer Parts

If you’re looking for Whirlpool dryer parts, take note that you shouldn’t buy parts until you are 100 percent sure what’s wrong with your machine. If your machine is not heating, tumbling or is taking too long to dry, these are different issues requiring different parts to repair successfully.

As it is, there are different part numbers for specific models of dryer. Here are the different dryer parts that you should take note of.

Dryer Timer

The dryer timer is exactly what it is. It times the spin and dry cycles of your washer.

Start Switch

Start switch parts push the switch and opens a bi-metal mechanism that frees the electricity into your dryer parts to allow it to run. Sometimes the switch can get stuck in the open position or in the closed position.

Dryer belt

There are only three models of Whirlpool dryers. The one that commonly gets replaced is belt number 341241. The dryer belt allows the drum to spin by getting horse power from the motor and putting tension on the idler pulley. Over time dryer belts usually get torn, ripped, busted or weathered.

Motor

There are only two different kinds of Whirlpool motors. One motor is a front mount where the blower is facing the front. The other motor has the blower wheel facing the back. Motors spin the drum and tumble your clothes at different speed. Motors usually get hung up or go bad on the start/run winding.

Blower Wheel

The blower wheel spins at the motor’s to evenly circulate the air to dry your clothes. It is common for blower wheels to chip and break from debris in pockets of clothes. They can also get stripped on the motor shaft.

Idler Pulleys

The idler pulleys put tension on the belt and thus allowing the belt to turn the drum. It is common for idler pulleys to get burnt by the belt. They can also get hung up. Idlers can also turn bad and make a lot of chirping noise because of poor maintenance.

Rollers

There are two different Whirlpool rollers. The two rollers have a difference in dimension and make the drum sit differently. Dryer rollers make it easier for the drum to move and provide support for easy tumbling. The rollers can go bad by rounding out the bearing in the middle of the roller parts.

Dryer Thermostats, Safety Switch

Dryer thermostats and safety switch allows the dryers to work at different temperatures The safety switch, on the other hand, monitors and controls the dryer so it doesn’t get too hot. The safety switch can pose problems when it shuts the dryer down.

When your Whirlpool dryer gets broken down, there are two actions that you can take either or. One is to call in a professional repair technician or to do the repair yourself.
