The Washing Machine

A washing machine also knowasherwn as a clothe was a machine designed for washing clothing in order to avoid all that scrubbing and rubbing, up untill the 1930s the Washing Machine was often hand operated, those pre-historic machines were commonly operated by a very low-speed single-cylinder hit and miss gasoline based engine. Not only that but since water had to be heated by fire back in those days for washing, the heated soapy water had to be used over and over again. The water was first used to wash the least dirtiest clothing and was than used for washing the progressively dirtier clothing. In later years machines where built with metal so fires where made within the washing machine! in order to keep the water at a heated temparature through out the day. Removing the soap from the clothing after going through the washing machine cycle was once another process, a person had to twist/wrangle the clothing untill all traces of water and soap where removed, tools such as the wringer/mangle was invented to help rid the water from clothing.

Front and Top-Loaders Comparison

A few top-loader advocates have suggested that a top-loader's where built for efficiency with capably and effectually provides faster wash timesfor clothing, although looking at the energy use would show this theory to be false -- Since front loaders in general use much less water, energy and detergent and clean almost as well as the top of the line top-loaders. Recent U.S. top loaders (built in the US after 2007) however are known to show poorly because new laws and regulations have decreased the quantity of energy that the washing machine can legally consume, which has brought upon shortened cycles and much less effective cleaning. Front-loaders tend to have increased cycle times but at the same time they are using much overall, alot less energy consumption (especially hot washes) by virtue of dramatically lower quantities of water and less soap is required.
