Haier appliances

Haier is a Chinese home appliances brand name. Its headquarters is located in Qingdao, China. Today it is the third largest producer of home appliances in the world. The Haier comany has sold more than nine billion dollars in products across the world in 2004.
Its main products are:
* Refrigerators,
* Air conditioners,
* Washing machines,
* Freezers
* Vacuums.

Haier also produces the full range of equipment needed for home water heaters, dishwashers, cookers, microwave and ovens.
The company has also diversified into the production of audiovisual equipment, computer and telecommunications.

Founded in 1984, from a small collective enterprise to manufacture refrigerators in Qingdao, Haier was first developed in its home market and has established a division in the United States in 1994 and opened a branch in Hong Kong in April 2005. It is part of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Dow Jones China 88.

In June 2005, Haier has shown its interest in Maytag, associated in this with private funds Blackstone and Bain Capital for a takeover. Ripplewood Holdings, another U.S. fund has also expressed interest but Whirlpool has made the best offer on $ 21 per Maytag share from $ 1.7 billion in total.

Haier has factories in five African countries: Tunisia, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria and South Africa. U.S. factories are located in Camden, South Carolina.
